CAN Europe 2018 Annual Report

To be called the “great platform to engage in the climate debate” that “improves our impact at national level” and provides “support, information and inspiration” compliments our entire Network and will continue to drive our shared effort to live up to such high accolades at this time of growing climate urgency.

The IPCC 1.5°C wake-up call continues to resonate by calling for more and urgent climate action. Our joint efforts led us to European Commission's proposal to bring emissions down to net zero by 2050; to higher energy targets under the Clean Energy Package; to slashing subsidies for polluting coal power plants. We ensured that more funds from the future EU budget will be dedicated to accelerating the clean energy transition all over the EU. We stood in solidarity with the families impacted by climate change and took the EU to court over insufficient 2030 climate target.
